Neely C. Carlton Joins Butler Snow

RIDGELAND, Miss., July 10, 2014 Butler Snow is pleased to announce Neely C. Carlton has joined the firm’s Ridgeland office. Carlton is a member of the firm’s Government Relations Group and will focus her practice on lobbying and government relations, as well as federal, state and local government matters.   “Neely is a great addition to the firm and our Government Relations Group,” said Donald Clark, Jr., Chairman, Butler Snow. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will serve our clients and the firm well.”   Carlton, who is a former Mississippi state senator from District 22, is an experienced political advisor. Most recently she served as chief of staff and general counsel for the Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA). Prior to her work with the MSMA, Carlton served as chief of staff for Department of Public Safety Commissioner Stephen B. Simpson and also as counsel and legislative liaison to former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.   Carlton completed her undergraduate education at the University of Southern Mississippi and her Juris Doctor at the University of Mississippi School of Law. Upon finishing her education, Carlton served in a judicial clerkship for Chief Justice Edwin L. Pittman of the Mississippi Supreme Court. Carlton is a member of the Mississippi State Bar Association, the Capital Area Bar Association, the Madison County Bar Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Corporate Counsel Association, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the American Society of Medical Association Counsel, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
